ADVentura
The Navigator
For those who are unfamiliar, the series of ADVentura cigars are bolstered by the fictional adventures of ADVentura and his companion, McKay. Each cigar is centered around the theme of exploration and coincides with the continuous journey of these two 15th century travelers who set out to “discover the unknown pleasures of the world,” you know, as opposed to materialistic treasures or possessions that can be considered trivial. Available is a trilogy with cigars named The Explorer, The Navigator, featured here and The Conqueror, released for public consumption in consecutive order. Handmade in the Dominican Republic, Adventura Cigars are without a doubt complex and crafted with exceptional quality. Sending shock waves through the cigar industry was The Explorer, the first release and the brainchild of William Ventura and Marcel Knobel, ADVentura Cigars. Setting sail on the massive wave of its predecessor, the duo saw the second release, ADVentura The Navigator, which is described as even more audacious and intricate than the first release. As ADVentura prides themselves on their selection of rare tobaccos, The Navigator is no exception. And adding to the cigar’s complexity and flavor profile is through its aging process. Before rolling, ADVentura ages the raw tobacco for 5 years in addition to another 5-6 months post-roll adding immense depth and nuances that come through into the final product. Speaking of final product, let’s get into the specifics of the blend. A labyrinthine of flavors, the blend is just complex as its flavors. Comprised of a five-country origin combination, the cigar is well-packed, wrapped in a textured, medium to dark brown Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper with slightly visible seams and finished with a triple cap. On the inside, one can say is the key component, an Indonesian binder. The proverbial “glue”, it contributes to The Navigator’s exceptional construction while helping to balance to the taste. Finally, at the three-country core features fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Ecuador. A medium-strength cigar, pre-light aromas are almost fruity, characterized by an array of smells including earth, molasses and the more obvious, well-aged tobacco. Pre-draw, present is a syrupy mouth feel. Once lit, gear up to navigate your way through a rich and layered flavor profile. An onslaught of refined cedar, dark fruit, mocha, leather and sugary notes are detected with white and black pepper on the retrohale. Also noted is a delightful combination of caramel and toffee that linger on the palate. Here is your chance to journey through creative blending and storytelling with ADVentura brand. With each cigar from the series, you can savor the progression with bold flavors that are underwritten by a nostalgia-inducing narrative. The line includes Cabral, a 6x54 Toro, Francis D 6×44 Corona, and Pinzón, a 5x50 Robusto. All are packaged in artfully executed treasure chests or pirate ship-themed boxes, so not only do you get a thrilling smoking experience, but you are also left with an amazing showpiece to display in your favorite your room.
