The year 1998 was a tremendous one for CAO. The company was celebrating its 30th anniversary and released several new blends to commemorate the occasion. I don’t think anyone knew the impact these blends would have on the company, or for that matter the cigar industry as a whole. That year, CAO released the CAO Maduro, which has gone on to be considered one of the finest maduro cigars ever made. It contains a delicious blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos for its filler and the binder. The wrapper of choice is a dark and oily Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf. It has notes of coffee, espresso, cocoa, and a slight sweet spice. The cigar was voted eighth best in the world the year it came out by Cigar Aficionado. What are you waiting for?
