Foundation The Wise
Man Corojo
One of the most notable brands leading the cigar industry with exceptional offerings including a consistent delivery of 90+ rating cigars, Foundation Cigar Co. proclaimed the El Gueguense and Wise Man Maduro lines would be discontinued. Now you may be wondering, such celebrated and well-received fan favorites, what’s next after leaving the Aganorsa partnership? Not to worry, the notorious My Father brand was tapped to manufacture replacement versions that are sure be equally received and awarded. Foundation brand owner Nick Melillo has reached staggering heights throughout his time in the industry receiving many accolades and crushing his goals. One of his lifelong dreams was to work with the Pepin Garcia family who he has long since held in high regard. Excitedly, Melillo made the decision that they would produce the new lines for Foundation. Introducing Foundation The Wise Man Corojo. Like its predecessor, at its heart, the cigar is an all-Nicaraguan blend. The most notable difference is now a Nicaraguan Corojo wraps the cigar. A four Vitola line-up, the following will be available for purchase in a box of 20: 5 x 48 Corona; 5.5 x 50 Robusto; 6 x 52 Toro, and a 7 x 54 Double Corona. Stately in their traditional wooden box made unique with a color blocking lid brandishing their logo front and center, each stick boasts a royal-esque band illuminated by its logo and rich gold tone accents. While revered, Melillo decidedly ceased all production at the Tobacco Valle de Jalapa (TABSA) or Aganaorsa Leaf facility. The new lines were to be manufactured at the prestigious, state-of-the-art factory and farm in Estelí, Nicaragua of the Garcia family giving access to some of the richest soil to grow tobacco in addition to highly skilled Torcedors all of which are deeply saturated in Cuban traditions of cigar making. Utilizing the rolling technique signature to My Father, this Nicaraguan puro showcases a unique core of leaves that were harvested in 2011 and 2012. More specifically, fillers composed of Corojo '99 and Criollo '98 from Condega, Jalapa and Estelí. These rare and covetable fillers are then followed by a Corojo '99 binder (Estelí & Jalapa) and finally, a Corojo '99 as the wrapper. This combination is quite compelling with its intricacies thanks to some of the most dedicated cigar masters in the world of cigars. Partakers will be enamored with this special stogie where senses will be immersed in about an hour or so, depending on the format, of luscious and savory smoke. Falling in the medium-full bodied range, its profile is elevated by an underlying and persistent sweetness. Furthermore, expected notes include a deep delivery of wood, leather and cedar peppered with a spicy richness. One memorable smoke, this stick is ideal for all those who desire an expertly crafted cigar that doesn’t shy away from intensity, is super flavorful and uncompromisingly smooth.
