Leaf by Oscar Island Jim is a visually striking cigar with a bulky barrel, shaggy foot, and a dark cap that looks like a pencil eraser. The flavor profile consists of smoky wood components accented with leather, earth, pepper, and hints of salted caramel. These totally distinctive flavors come from using two separate wrappers, a Connecticut shade, and a near black oscuro leaf. Overall, I found Island Jim to be a hearty, complex smoke with a solid medium bodied strength, and a somewhat eccentric “Key West” vibe. Pulling this stick out of my travel humidor draws plenty of attention from fellow smokers at my local cigar lounge. And, when coerced to share one, the response has been overwhelmingly positive!
