The Padilla La Pilar is a premium boutique cigar with a good-looking box-pressed shape. I love the look and feel of its dark and oily Ecuador Habano oscuro wrapper, which covers a Nicaraguan binder and aged long-leaf fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The cigar is very firm to the feel with no soft spots. An even burn delivers lush medium-strength notes of earth, spice, nuts before finishing with a pleasant sweetness that leaves a nice clean taste on the tongue. Padilla La Pilar has quickly joined the ranks of my top small-batch brands, and considering the quality that goes into every stick, it is reasonably priced.
