Foundation Olmec
Maduro Double Corona / 7 x 54
FCOLDC3
A new smoke from one of my favorite cigar makers, Nick Melillo and his Foundation Cigar Company, Foundation Olmec cigars highlight the original inhabitants of Mexico’s San Andres region, the Olmecs. The Olmec civilization was one of the first major civilizations to exist in Central America over 3000 years ago, predating the founding of Rome by almost a thousand years. Foundation pays homage to the ancient Olmecs by creating not one, but two blends that make use of top-shelf Mexican San Andres wrappers grown on the lands the Olmecs once called home. Surrounding a core of Nicaraguan long filler and binder tobaccos that have been extensively aged for three years is my choice of either a San Andres claro wrapper or a dusky San Andres maduro leaf. Both have a rich and flavorful full-bodied character, however there is no aggression behind the bold core flavors of spice, espresso, cocoa, and leather. The claro blend has a touch more creaminess to it, while I found the maduro to be a bit richer with the chocolate and spice, yet both were absolutely delicious and earned a permanent spot in my humidor. Crafted by cigar master AJ Fernandez in Nicaragua, each blend is offered as three popular sizes and available in boxes of 12, so order your Foundation Olmec cigars online from Cigars.com today and enjoy one (or two) of the best San Andres blends around!
